Student credit cards are a great way for young borrowers to build credit- if used responsibly. As students are generally a risky group to lend to, credit card issuers tack on higher penalty fees, provide lower lines of credit and higher interest rates to student credit cards. Students should consider their young credit history sacred and use these student credit cards with care so as not to limit future lending. Caution: Student applicants must be 18 years or older and may need a co-signer on the account if they have no established credit history.
